Where are you from, and what are you studying and at which institution?
I'm from Malaysia, and I am currently studying a at Adelaide University.
My studies explore how biological systems can be harnessed for innovation in healthcare and the environment.
The most rewarding part has been applying what I learn in class to real-world research, particularly securing an internship, getting lab tours and meeting highly experienced individuals in my area of interest.
My passion for biotechnology began in high school, where I became fascinated by how science and innovation come together to improve human health. I wanted to be part of a field that contributes to solving real-world medical challenges.
Choosing Adelaide University felt natural because of its strong research focus and the opportunity to work alongside experienced scientists and researchers.
Through countless networking opportunities provided by the university and my internship, I have deepened my understanding of biotechnology beyond theory. Working with scientists and clinicians has given me perspective on how scientific discoveries move from the lab to real-world healthcare applications.
How did you feel supported as an international student when you arrived in Adelaide?
From the very beginning, I felt a strong sense of belonging. The University鈥檚 orientation sessions, international student support team, and 大象视频Adelaide events helped me settle in quickly.
The University provides a fantastic support system. Everyone from the staff to senior students was approachable and eager to help, which made the transition so much easier.
Academic advisors and tutors are always available, and the campus culture encourages collaboration. I鈥檝e also benefited from peer mentoring and workshops that help international students adjust academically and socially.
The student community is diverse, inclusive, and full of energy. Whether it鈥檚 through clubs, mentoring, or social events, there鈥檚 always a sense of belonging and mutual support.
What鈥檚 been your favourite experience while living and studying in Adelaide?
My favourite experience has to be attending events and meeting people from all over the world who share the same passions as me.
The balance of lifestyle and study is unbeatable in Adelaide. It鈥檚 affordable compared to other cities, peaceful, and filled with beautiful places to explore. It has , , amazing cafes, and markets, all while being an academic hub. They make life here vibrant and relaxing at the same time.
